A 55-year-old female presented with:

Complaints of on-and-off vaginal bleeding for 1 year

History of menopause 5 years ago

On clinical examination, a fibroid polyp was noted protruding outside the vagina, associated with chronic uterine inversion.

 

Surgical Management

Procedure: Vaginal hysterectomy was performed.

Findings: Uterus with fibroid polyp and chronic inversion was removed successfully.

Post-operative care: The patient tolerated the procedure well.

She made a good recovery and was discharged on the 4th post-operative day in stable condition.

 

Discussion

Fibroid polyps are benign growths that may rarely cause uterine inversion, especially in postmenopausal women.

Chronic uterine inversion is uncommon but can present with persistent vaginal bleeding and a mass protruding outside the vagina.
